Maria studied at Duquesne University with Jennifer Steele and Rhian Kenny, Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris, with Vincent Lucas and Universidad de Antioquia with Elizabeth Osorio, Diego Gomez and Hugo Espinosa.

Her orchestral work includes appearances with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Filarmónica de Medellín, Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia, Filaromonica Joven de Colombia, Iberacademy Medellín, Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony Orchestra/Iberacademy, Wiener Staatsoper/Harmonia Symphony Orchestra (Hilti Foundation) side by side concert, Houston Symphony Orchestra/Filarmónica Joven de Colombia, National Orchestral Institute Orchestra, and the Pittsburgh Chamber Orchestra, Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra.

She has performed as a soloist with Orquesta Filarmonica de Medellin, Lakeside Symphony Orchestra, Duquesne University Chamber Orchestra, Duquesne University Symphony Orchestra

Winner of the Colombian National Competition "Serie de los Jóvenes intérpretes Banco de La República '' in 2015, Concerto Competition of the Medellin Philharmonic, the Duquesne University Concerto Competition; Second Place in COFFA I International Virtual Competition Piccolo Category; Second place in the Australian Flute Festival Piccolo Competition 2023, finalists in the International Competition ' La Flauta Latinoamericana’; and the distinction of 1ère Mention  à l’unanimité from CRR Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris, France.
